We buy bread every day. There are some invitations that arouses extra attention when they dump into the letter box. Such was the invitation from the Italian culthouse, Tenuta dell'Ornellaia since the winery would celebrate its 20th anniversary for the wine itself Ornellaia by a tasting. Oh I thought you with poinsettias in the eyes - how many generations would wonder be served by this, one of Italy's greatest wines?
Two was the answer! Year 1995 and 2005. But the Danish importer, Sigurd Müller Vinhandel, was kind enough to "fill up" with even a vintage Ornellaia and then a year of super wine Masseto. Quite a nice little handful.
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981 by Ludovico Antinori, brother of the more famous enough Piero Antinori. The winery is located in Bolgheri in Tuscany and is situated next to the Sassicaia. It is today on 97 hectares of vines and is only planted with "bordeaux-grapes" as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Initially got Antinori using the famous American wine expert Andre Tchelistcheff, who was convinced that the classic Bordeaux grapes would do best in the area and therefore did not have to plant Sangiovese that otherwise dominates in Tuscany. Bolgheri area reminiscent also in many ways the Bordeaux; it is relatively flat, close to the water and have (almost) the same microclimate.
The last 5-10 years have ownership of Ornellaia been a bit changeable. In 2003 sold Ludovico Antinori Tenuta dell'Ornellaia to a partnership between Robert Mondavi and Frescobaldi. 2006 Le Volte has just over 50% Sangiovese in it, purchased from outside Bolgeri. The rest is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is intense in fragrance with cherry, currant, slightly toasted and very fresh. It is between the rich with good fruit and a lovely smooth and fresh, fruity flavor. Good ending with lots of fruit (again) and a little Tuscan acid. 89/100 - kr. 110,00 - it's actually a good price!
2005 Le Serre Nuove is the second wine of Ornellaia. It uses grapes from younger vines or plots, there are no good enough for the best wine. It is made of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet tankio Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. It is intense with blackcurrant, pepper, a little mint. Very nice in the fragrance. Between bodied to full-bodied wine, with nice fruit and an extremely harmonious flavor with rich, soft tannins. You still taste of new oak, but it is really nice integrated. Very nice and especially very delicious wine. I smoke all the way up to 92/100 pts. The price is kr. 250.00.
So we came to 3 x Ornellaia, which are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon tankio and Merlot. tankio The individual "cuvées" stores separately in oak barrels for 18 months, after which the wine is blended and place bottled where it then stores for 12 months before it is put for sale.
2005 Ornellaia is made of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. It is very dark and little closed in the nose. One senses a little blackcurrant, mint, roasted dish and tobacco. It is full-bodied tankio with tightly packed, nice fruit and an intense flavor with a good structure and an extremely perfect balance. Here are good tannins - strict yet soft - and with underlying force. Very, very nice. Must be although it can be hard! A klassevin. 96/100 pts. The price is kr. 695.00.
1998 Ornellaia is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet tankio Franc. It is the wine which in 2001 became the year's wine from Wine Spectator. It noted in color, the wine has a little age. Intense on the nose with ripe berry, plum, cedar and some animal noises. Beautiful. Between bodied tankio wine with nice fruit and a little rank taste but with nice soft and ripe tannins. The wine is very nice balanced tankio and perfectly ripe now. Elegant in style. 94/100 pts.

It is some time since we have tasted Italian wines in the wine club, so I decided that we should try a little mixed evil from Tuscany. It was a couple of pieces of pure Sangiovese, a few blends from the renowned Gold Coast Bolgheri and a grenade on Merlot.
We tasted all the wines blindly in the first round (except me when I was the host), where we evaluated the color, aroma, taste and gave points. Compared to the price and points, it was especially Torrione of Tenuta di Petrolo which took us by storm. So besides being a great wine that I still love I connect also with good memories and it is not unimportant: o) Happy New Year !!
I think it is a great wine for the price. It is very precise in its expression and delivers full. I will follow the next year and buy a few boxes. I did at one point namely like to taste the several generations to the same dinner
Glorious reading. I do not claim in any way to be wine expert, but I have lived in Tuscany and so one can hardly avoid getting a taste for the drops. I think I have never tasted a bad Tuscan wine, even if it just has been a cheap Chianti in bastflaske.

Same wines in DK? I have visited some producers in Italy and compared. Other wine countries, so there's nothing to save. It is certainly my opinion.
I definitely think that the wines are generally much cheaper in the Italian supermarkets than in Danish. But I am like I said far from wine expert, and I have not compared prices for certain wines respectively in Denmark and Italy. I may be wrong, but my guess is that a wine at home would cost 100 kr, is available for 40-50 kr in Italy. I actually think that there would be revolution if the government down there served up the same duties on wine as we have.
The times I have been in Italy, it has also been my impression that the wines in the supermarkets was much cheaper, but when I visited the producers chief spence have not been much to save on the better wines. If you only move around the tourist attractions in the absolute banh center, you'll miss a lot - not least in terms of exciting places to eat and drink. In the district Vrsovice in Prague 10 shall example. the good and charming restaurant Osteria Da Clara. The style is rustic and honest Italian food with Tuscan tones, and the restaurant has a little the style of a small cozy local Italian trattoria. Chef Glenn Svarc with English roots have a long history in just Italy - and has driven restaurant on Funen (yes, Fyn) for many years. In fact, Glenn Svarc lived 18 years in Denmark, banh and his daughter Clara, who the restaurant is named after, is Danish. Osteria Da Clara has been around for six years and has gained a loyal followers, both among the local Czechs, but also among the many foreigners (like myself) who lives in Prague, and with the honest and consistent good perfectly complements combined with extremely fair prices, there is nothing to say that it is wise to book a table. Especially because there is not enough just "strolling" past the restaurant, located on the address Mexicka 7, Prague 10. Take tram no. 22 to stop Ruská. The house wine in decanter costing touching Czk. 120, - (kr. 34, -) for a half liter and is usually my choice if I do not grab a hearty red wine from Umbria to Czk. 289, - (good kr. 80, -) for a bottle. The house wine for less than kr. 35, - for half a liter - and delicious bread with olive oil. From the menu, I for example. recommend a soup, or if you are a few, a platter of mixed appetizers to about Czk. 200, - (approximately kr. 55, -). The dish is large enough to share between 2-3 people, banh if we can agree on who should have what, and it's changing content "by the chef's imagination." banh A person who eats it alone with bread, you might just be able to squeeze banh a dessert down afterwards, banh but not much more than that. On the whole, the portions are very generous, and in fact a little too big for my taste. Carpaccio of bresaola including delicious marinated artichokes Yesterday I chose half a liter of house wine and a "bottomless" bottle of water (Czk. 30, -. kr, 8.50), make up as needed. As a starter from the daily specials I chose a Carpaccio of bresaola (Czk. 169, -, kr. 47, -) with artichokes, oil, truffle, parmesan and salad. Usually served carpaccio the raw meat, which marinating including citrus and oil will tenderize and cold-cook the meat. However Bresaola is lufttøret, salt beef stored typically 2-3 months and having a concentrated banh flavor and good tenderness. Yesterday's bresaola was certainly no disappointment. There were fine pieces of marinated artichoke on the meat and they were s
